From then from now

Kagizen Yoshifusa was founded during the Kyoho era in the Edo period. We have been making Kyoto sweets in a corner of Gion, Kyoto's entertainment district. We have offered our sweets to tea masters and monks as well as ordinary customers, but because of the location in Gion, our sweets have also become popular with the literati and artists who frequent the teahouses and restaurants, as well as the ladies of the entertainment district.
The way Kagizen sweets are made has not changed from the past to the present. Craftsmen make them by hand using carefully selected ingredients and methods handed down through generations. Carefully and meticulously. We strive every day to create the authentic Kagizen taste so that our customers will be pleased.

Kyoto is a city with a long history. As the capital since the Heian period, cultures such as painting, waka poetry, Noh, and the tea ceremony have flourished. Within these cultures, Kyoto confectionery has been honed and refined to a high level. Reflecting the rich changes of the seasons and the beauty of Japan, Kyoto confectionery is like a lovely, edible jewel. Its appeal extends beyond the confectionery itself. It is only when the design of the box, wrapping paper, bookmark, and other elements is also considered that it is complete. Kyoto confectionery can be said to be a culture in itself.

While constantly expanding our drawer of new ideas, we want to continue to convey the refined flavors that we have developed and passed down over the years. And we want you to enjoy them with all five senses. We hope that Kagizen's sweets can enrich your life, even just a little.
